Genius, I thought as soon as my eyes fell upon the juicer.
Still in its box after 6 months, the time was now.
If you know me, you’ll know I’m crazy about sugarcane, even when it involves physical labour. So the idea of juicing it was sooooooooo welcome.
Well, it took me a few minutes to get the hand of the machine, and then it was a breeze.
In no time, the stalks of the cane were spit in two – a pile of shredded sugarcane and a glass of juice. I was shocked at how efficient the machine was/is, to shred sugar cane to cotton candy is no easy feat.
Joy. Till it was time to drink and I noticed a thick head of fibres…
I strained it off, with cheesecloth in a sieve but still, the resulting juice was sweet but gritty.
And when I decanted the juice into mini glasses, there remained another layer of sediment. Sigh.
Alas, the search isn’t over for easy sugarcane juice. Somebody help me :).
I do have one last plan but I’m not hopeful it’ll work. We’ll see.[wpurp-searchable-recipe]Juicing, with Sugarcane – – – [/wpurp-searchable-recipe]
Me I’m stalking you o! Shamelessly sef!! As I saw the pic on IG I said the same thing I always say to myself when I see your posts on twitter or IG,”this woman will not kill me” I ran down here and I’m not disappointed…..again
:). Loooool. Thank you dear. I’m glad you enjoy them – that makes me happy.
I missed the intro of your new look — congratulations! It’s beautiful! In India, there’s always a big chunk of ginger that goes into the pressing of sugarcane. And did you know, sugar cane juice was the main ingredient in the original mojito 🙂
Thank you dear. I’ll pass some very fresh ginger through when i make it again.
Really on the mojito? Intressant. So much to learn. I might make a variation on it…hmm. Thank you
I promise i’m not stalking you, its just that I get excited when I get the email that you have a new post up. Its the fan in me.
I use a cheesecloth to strain if i want really smooth juice from a juicer. I think I got mine from amazon a while back. I use it especially for almond and coocnut milk made with a juicer too.
Looool. You have my heart.
Just so you know, this is the very reason I write. To be read and all.
Thanks – perhaps I need to get new cheesecloth. I did use it here (I’ve updated the post) but still…
When I use the pasta roller, it’s so smooth. Oh well, live and learn
And I’m going to try for almond / coconut milk
