Food Bloggers Connect 2009

I’m going….only a few weeks more! If I were to describe my excitement As a drink, I would be Champagne, bubbling and frothing over…. And if excitement was a condiment –  it would definitely be Ginger jam – hot, sweet and warming all at once A fragrance? For sure Vanilla – Simple. Fragrant. Earthy. Fruity. I love blogging….from the bottom of my heart. Just having a place to winge talk about adventures gone wrong…. and those successful. I often wonder if blogging is counter intuitive – connecting with other people across geographic boundaries, a modern day pen-palling. A  chance to learn,...

The great knife debate

If I ever say blogging hasn’t done anything for me…. don’t you believe me….please. I can write a very long list about the perks: It has given me a new lease on life Many new friends And a very interesting knife!

Adventures in making pizza

I always say that the art of being a good mother is knowing when to buy a pizza….rather than make! See that holiday to Rome in February made a huge impression on me, on us and on my desire to make pizza. As soon as we returned, determined to be Mama par excellence, I set about making it. Disaster. Struck. Testimony that  making some things yourself is not the way to go.    Reasons for failure? Numerous. First come home from work when the kids are hungry. Then make a dough from granary flour, let it rise and then roll it out, don’t worry...

Steak 101 – 5 steps to the beginner’s success

If at first you don’t suceed, try again. I did! If you follow a winning recipe, try to make sure you leave experimenting for another day. I didn’t. You will need to let your pan heat up well before you grease it Whatever you do, make sure you ‘rest’ your steak If you fail the second, third, fourth or even fifth time…..don’t give up. I always say this is why I love food – its ever forgiving nature.
