Matcharons and Midnight feasts
My most loved stories and books as a child were all written by Enid Blyton. My sisters could well say the same. We sought book after book after book from Famous Five to Secret Seven, culminating in the adventures at St Clare’s and Malory Towers. The one thing I loved the most and still remember with more than a twinge of nostalgia are the midnight feasts the girls had. Somewhere deep inside of me, I always felt a bit deprived because I couldn’t flatten myself and slip into the pages of the book, to partake of the glorious delights they...
Dutch Stroopwafels, revisited
Its my nature. I can’t leave things be. I like it like that so bear with me. Not satisfied with having witnessed stroopwaffels being made by experts, I decided that I would try it at home – without a proper stroopwafel maker. And try I did. Verdict later!
Rhubarb Tian – in the shadows of the Daring Bakers….again
I will not be left out, it is rhubarb season after all and this time I am determined to cook it rosy pink. Mac-a-misu and other ‘misu desserts
I’ve loved it…and hated it, with a passion!

Ser*en*dip*i*ty (noun) Not finding what one is searching for, but finding something better. Kate says: I love this word. Not only because of its dictionary meaning, but also because it sounds like the kind of life I’d like to have: Serene with a little dipity added! (You’ll find the above lines on her blog!)
Sweet Potatoes: My Bajan Cooking Class
‘Guilty as charged, Your Honour.’ ‘What is the charge, accused?’ ‘Well, Your Honour, it was 4 weeks ago when I promised the defendants some recipes from a now-distant trip to Barbados’. ‘And why have you kept them waiting so long?’ ‘Well, Your Honour, since then 1) The pain in my right, writing hand has come back aka RSI (see I work almost 8 hours a day on the computer at work + X hours at home!) 2) I have begun a period of ‘study’ for the next 6 months with assignments due every fortnight 3) I’ve decided to also grow...
Roasted Patiala Chicken Pizza
This International Pizza Pie party could have gone either way for me. I guess I have Eyjafjallajökull aka the Icelandic volcano to thank for completing it.
